Mechanics Liens

When issues arise on a construction project, mechanics liens are often filed by general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers. There are specific statutes that outline the mechanics lien process, including specific deadlines by which certain actions must be taken, or the right to claim a mechanics lien is lost. We are experienced in the mechanics lien process, and assist our clients in preparing and mailing out the appropriate documents to ensure that our clients' mechanics lien rights are timely asserted, and if necessary, a lawsuit to foreclose a mechanics lien is timely filed.

We also assist clients who have claims on governmental construction projects, including timely filing verified statements of claims and related documents.

There are times when subcontractors or general contractors file liens that are excessive or inappropriate. We represent owners to identify and aggressively respond to these situations. We also assist owners in posting notices at construction projects on their property to protect them if mechanics liens are recorded against their property.

Our experience and knowledge of the construction and real estate business provides us with particular insight into how these cases proceed and we have the experience and resources to manage, litigate, and settle these kinds of cases effectively.
