In most cases, if we have not performed work for you before, we will request a retainer. A retainer is an amount that we request to make sure that the firm will be paid for some portion of the work it performs. A retainer is not an estimate of the amount it will cost to perform the work. It is more like an initial deposit. However, in the event that the work performed is finished for less than the cost of the retainer or you decide that you do not want the work to be completed, you will receive a refund of any portion of the retainer that is not used up.
